Acting for Animation Course

At Southside Performance Studio, we recognise the unique artistry and skill required for voice acting in animation. Our Acting for Animation Course offers students the opportunity to explore this exciting and dynamic field, honing their vocal talents and bringing animated characters to life.

About the Course

The Acting for Animation Course is designed for students who have completed our three fundamental courses: the Acting Foundation Course, Stage Acting Course, and Screen Acting Course. Building upon the foundational acting techniques learned in these courses, students will focus specifically on the art of voice acting for animation.

Course Structure

• Interactive Sessions: The course runs for 3 hours and is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of voice acting for animation. Sessions include vocal and speech warm-ups, script reading, practice exercises, and recording sessions.

• Paired Practice: Each student will be paired with another actor, allowing for collaborative learning and feedback as they work together on carefully selected animated scenes tailored to their strengths and interests.

• Recording and Reel: At the conclusion of the course, students will receive their vocal recordings for their voice reel, showcasing their range and abilities as voice actors. Additionally, students will receive an edited version of their vocal recording onto the animated scenes for personal use.
  

Course Goals

• Learn Voice Acting for Animation: Students will learn the fundamentals of voice acting for animation, including techniques for creating distinct characters and conveying emotions truthfully.

• Expand Vocal Range: Through vocal warm-ups and exercises, students will work to expand their vocal range, allowing them to effectively portray a variety of characters and emotions in their performances.

• Improve Vocal Clarity and Control: Students will learn techniques to improve clarity, articulation, and overall control of their voice, ensuring that their performances are engaging and effective.

• Build Confidence: As students gain proficiency in voice acting techniques, they will also build confidence in their abilities as performers, allowing them to fully embody their characters and connect with audiences.
  

Course Requirements

This course is exclusively available to students who have completed our three fundamental courses: the Acting Foundation Course, Stage Acting Course, and Screen Acting Course. This ensures that students have a solid foundation in acting techniques before focusing on voice acting for animation.
